We offer several Performance & Music classes, generally two or more times a year.  Our Fall semester opens for registration in mid-August, our Spring in mid-January, and our Summer in mid-May.  We encourage you to add your name to our interest list to receive information on the next offering of classes.  To add your name to our interest list, simply register for this free class (add to your cart and checkout).

Guitar 1

Play along with songs you hear on the radio the very first week! Michael's play-along method is both effective and fun. We won’t promise that you’ll become a guitar master overnight, but you'll learn how to tune your guitar, read lead sheets (lyrics and chords), and create the notes on the instrument. You’ll also learn basic strumming and chords. Bring your guitar to class.

Guitar 2

Don’t fret! You can continue what you started in Guitar 1. Using your lead sheets form Guitar 1, review the basics of playing guitar, reading lead sheets and right-hand technique. Then get an overview of where to go from there - with things like more advanced bar chords, some basic scales, and improvising theory that can be applied toward playing simple songs you’ve heard on the radio. By the end of the course, you’ll be performing confidently for family and friends. Bring your guitar. Prerequisite: knowledge of notes on the first three frets of the guitar and basic open chords. Bring your guitar to class.

Is there a song you’d really love to sing? Whether it’s jazz, blues, gospel, country or pop, develop the voice you have, to sound the best you ever have. This workshop will provide a comfortable place for you to develop and/or enhance both vocal and performing skills to sing your song. Find your best key and your own style, get tips on breathing and phrasing, and learn how to work with musicians.You’ll build the confidence to showcase your accomplishment in the "Finale" for invited family and friends the last day of class, where you’ll also receive a certificate. If you’re interested in performing, writing or producing comedy, award-winning stand-up comic Barry Weisenberg can do for you what he’s done for so many. Learn the fundamentals of stand-up comedy technique, nuances, joke construction, comedic theory, marketing, and producing your own comedy show. Also learn ways to improve material you already have, performance tips (including how to relax before going on stage), how to read an audience and work a crowd, using attitude in your act. Get constructive feedback as you put your routine together, then showcase your talents for family and friends at a graduation performance at a comedy club. *$15 comedy room rental fee, due at registration.
