« back to classes page
CourseGraphic Typical simple hand-painted silk scarves sell for around $45 a piece, but you can make them yourself for $5 to $7!  Plus you get to choose the design.  There's no end to the uses of painted silk—clothing, pillows and other decorative items, jewelry, and more. Even if you don’t draw or paint, you can use scrunch technique or create your own design working from patterns. Find out how to properly stretch the silk on a frame, apply resist lines, create colors, and use alcohol and salt effects. You’ll take home one 22-inch-square and one 11x16-inch silk scarf each night, plus a stretching frame, bottles with tips, and mixing cups. *$25 material fee due at time of registration. Wear clothes you can get paint on. For class supply list on website, please click on Class Supplies link in the menu on the left.
