CourseGraphic A system of controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the total body, Pilates activates the "powerhouse" muscles and conscious breathing to strengthen, lengthen, and tone the abdomen, pelvic cavity, lower back, glutes, hips, and thighs. Learn how to use concentrated movements of your arms and legs to create long, lean muscles and improve your body's alignment, enhance your balance, and increase muscular control. Therapeutically based, Pilates is ideal for rehabilitating selected injuries. Bring a yoga or Pilates mat, as well as a Pilates ball (click on "Class Supplies" tab in left menu for details). Also bring a theraband if you have one.
