CourseGraphic Looks complex, but it’s soooo simple! You don’t need to be artsy or creative to make what looks like a charcoal painting—and have a blast doing it. This easy-but-beautiful form of Asian printmaking is accessble to anyone. Collagraphy is a process of cutting, pasting, and gluing layers to a thick surface (plate) and/or carving, cutting, and peeling to take material away. The resulting plate can be inked and you’ll print your design on fine Asian paper to take home and wow your friends. You’ll also take home the plate you create, in case you want to make additional prints. Material fee of $20 covers inks, paper, and equipment used in class. Bring an X-Acto knife with extra blades and a pencil. Class is hands-on, so dress accordingly.
