Westside Extension offers several academic classes for grade schoolers during the Spring in Math, study skills and report writing. Jorge Torella-Prieto will show 3rd and 4th graders struggling with various math areas how Math Can Be Fun–Grades 3 & 4. For 5th and 6th graders struggling with fractions, decimals, percents and ratios, we offer Math Improvement–Grades 5 & 6. Eighth graders and above improve their abilities in his Algebra Tutoring 1 class. Most students can also benefit greatly by improving their study skills and learning how to write better reports. That’s why school teacher Stephanie Zamora designed these class for grades 3-5 and grades 6-12. Students will learn techniques to stop procrastinating, manage time more effectively, improve listening and note-taking skills, concentration and memorization of material. She’ll also cover the steps of writing a report, from choosing the topic, to finding the information, to writing and presenting. Acquiring these study and report writing skills will help to reduce stress and test anxiety.
